Workshop di scrittura con Jane Corbett e Ludovica Fales

Vorremmo che iniziaste questo viaggio da una penna e da un’idea. Un’idea che amate o che volete mettere in discussione, che desiderate coltivare e far crescere con l’aiuto degli altri, quell’idea sovversiva che ha bisogno di un processo speciale e unico fatto di coraggio e cura per sopravvivere all’inverno e fiorire. Pensiamo al cinema come a una materia, una struttura stratificata, un essere vivente che ha bisogno di essere nutrito con mestieri e competenze diverse, un tipo di lavoro differente che va esplorato in uno spazio di scambio e concentrazione. Pensiamo al cinema come a un processo collettivo, la cui libertà può trovare spazio solo laddove le meccaniche vengono messe in discussione.
Il laboratorio si tiene nel bellissimo borgo italiano di Cetona, in Toscana. Il primo giorno prevede una sessione di gruppo sulla narrazione, seguita da una seconda sessione di gruppo il terzo giorno – un’interazione più sperimentale che esplorerà il paesaggio circostante come fonte di ispirazione. Ogni giorno del corso prevede una sessione individuale con i tutor, in cui i partecipanti potranno discutere del proprio lavoro. I pasti saranno consumati in comune nella casa principale, ma i partecipanti alloggeranno nel villaggio, per avere tempo e spazio per riflettere e scrivere. Saranno disponibili sessioni di yoga per chi lo desidera e ci saranno molte occasioni per esplorare la natura circostante. I candidati interessati dovranno presentare la propria candidatura con una sceneggiatura per cortometraggio della durata massima di 20 minuti, oppure un trattamento per un lungometraggio di massimo 7 pagine.
Jane Corbett è una sceneggiatrice e romanziera, ha pubblicato una raccolta di racconti e quattro romanzi, e ha scritto sceneggiature premiate per il cinema e la TV. Ha lavorato a un adattamento de “L’Idiota” per il Riverside Theatre con il regista polacco Henrik Baranowski, e ha scritto di cinema e letteratura per diverse riviste nazionali. Ha diretto un suo corso di cinema di successo nel centro di Londra e ha poi insegnato per molti anni alla National Film and Television School di Beaconsfield. Attualmente sta lavorando a un nuovo romanzo e collabora come consulente di sceneggiatura con diversi registi.
Ludovica Fales è una regista e artista pluripremiata. I film che ha diretto – Letters from Palestine, The Real Social Network, Fear and Desire, The Tales of The Black Saint e Lala – sono spesso attraversati da una poetica della memoria e da un’indagine sulle identità stratificate. Con esperienza come produttrice e assistente di produzione per documentari realizzati per la BBC e Al Jazeera e installazioni per spazi d’arte e gallerie, Ludovica ha sviluppato una solida capacità di collaborazione con team internazionali nel settore, sia nel cinema che nell’arte installativa e nei progetti in realtà virtuale. Negli anni ha anche collaborato con festival di documentari e diritti umani, insegnando cinema in Bosnia, Kosovo e nel Mediterraneo come forma di mediazione, risoluzione dei conflitti e sostegno alle voci femminili forti. Ludovica insegna narrazione sperimentale e interattiva alla UCL di Londra e alla Paris 3/Sorbonne Nouvelle di Parigi. È anche un’insegnante diplomata di yoga kundalini.

Writing workshop in Cetona, Tuscany

We would like you to start the journey from a pen and from an idea. An idea you love or one you want to challenge, that you would like to plant and grow with the help of others, that subversive idea that needs a special, unique process of courage and care to survive the winter and blossom. We think of film as a material, layered structure, a living being that needs to be nourished by different crafts and skills, a different kind of work that needs to be explored in a space of exchange and focus. We think of film as a collective process, the freedom of which can find its space only somewhere where the mechanics are challenged.
The workshop will be held in the beautiful Italian village of Cetona, in Tuscany. Day 1 will offer a group session on storytelling, followed by a second group session on Day 3 – a more experimental interaction exploring the beautiful surrounding landscape as a source of inspiration. On each day of the course there will be a one-to-one session with tutors for candidates to discuss their own work. Meals will take place communally in the main house, but candidates will be housed in the village to give time and space for reflection and writing. Yoga sessions will be available for those interested, and plentiful opportunity to explore the surrounding nature. Prospective candidates should apply with either a short film script of not more than 20 minutes, or a treatment for a feature film of not more than 7 pages.
Jane Corbett is a screenwriter and novelist, who has published a volume of short stories and four novels, and written award-winning screenplays for film and TV. She has worked on an adaptation of ‘The Idiot’ for the Riverside Theatre with the Polish director Henrik Baranowski, and written on film and literature for various national journals. She ran her own successful filmmaking course in central London, then went on to teach at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield for many years. She is currently working on another novel and as script consultant to various filmmakers.
Ludovica Fales is a multi award winning film director and artist. The films she directed- “Letters from Palestine”, “The Real Social Network’, “Fear and Desire, “The Tales of The Black Saint” and “Lala”– are often crossed by the poetics of memory and an investigation on multilayered identities. With experience as a producer and production assistant for documentary films produced for the BBC and Al Jazeera and installations for art spaces and galleries, Ludovica has developed strong collaboration skills with international teams in the sector, both in films, installation art and VR projects. Over the years she has also been collaborating with documentary and human rights festivals, teaching cinema in Bosnia, Kosovo and the Mediterranean, as a form of mediation and conflict resolution and in support of strong female voices. Ludovica teaches experimental and interactive storytelling at UCL in London and Paris 3/Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris. She is also a graduated kundalini yoga teacher.
